Most readers of this blog are here to get advice on writing for the web and creating effective content. Today, I decided that I wanted to show my good blogosphere spirit and offer a reader some hands-on assistance, and I figured it would be fun to run a competition. Otherwise, how would I know which of you to choose?
More details on the competition itself in a moment - in the meantime: what could you win?
1 Article 900+ Words (Flagship Content) focused on a topic of your choosing, in your niche, optimized for search engines but written for humans. If you hired me with, that would cost $50.
Comprehensive Website Review where I’ll review your website and, more importantly, your writing. I’ll show you how to get more search hits and optimize your design so that the reader is directed towards the most important information on the page.
The real kicker in this report comes when I analyze your writing style and teach you how to really write for the web. All the bad habits you picked up from your teachers in school? We’ll get rid of them all. The standard report is worth $100.
A Month of Advertising on this Blog with a skyscraper or 468*60 banner. You’ll look like a pro! That’s normally $200.
Simple: write an article on your blog that explains to a new blogger how to make the most of FriendFeed. Remember, your content can’t be about using FriendFeed in general: it’s got to be geared at bloggers. Your goal is to make it better and more interesting than the post I just published on the topic over at Lifehack.
Requirements
You’ll need to follow these requirements to a tee, or you’ll be automatically disqualified. Don’t worry - they aren’t difficult.
I need you to do both of these things so I can track your entry and keep up to date with you. The reason you’re automatically disqualified if you don’t meet these requirements is that I won’t know about your post in the first place!
The winner will be selected by myself, Dustin Wax, who runs the insanely useful Writer’s Technology Companion, and James Chartrand, the freelance writing guru from Men with Pens. Go visit their sites and subscribe if you haven’t already. We’ll be playing judges for you. Dustin and James know quality work when they see it, so write well!
We’ll start judging on Thursday, the 19th of June, so have your entries in by then! The deadline has been postponed — I’ll make a post when I’ve determined a new one. You’ve got a headstart
Oh, and one more thing: you’ll want to subscribe to the blog so you find out if you won or not. Check out our subscription options here - all are completely free and painless.

1Damn.
I’ll have to pass on this one.
Just joined FriendFeed and have yet to find the time to poke around and make myself familiar with it.
Plan to watch this competition from the sidelines, though. Should be interesting. :)

2Joel: I hadn’t heard of FriendFeed, I’m going to read your Lifehack article to see what it is. I don’t see a deadline anywhere on this post.

3@Vered: No worries - you can come watch with me!
@Marelisa: That’s the problem with late-night blogging. I run on an American timezone, living in Australia
I’ve fixed that.
